Nika Kermani - NK STUDIOS

Nika is the founder and creative director of NK STUDIOS. A White Salmon native, Nika learned to dance and paint in the very community that houses NK STUDIOS. Influenced by her Persian heritage, she grew up dancing with her family. She danced at Columbia Gorge Dance Academy and later for the Trojan Dance Force at the University of Southern California. Drawing from her experience performing on the basketball court and instructing Zumba, she creates dance classes and choreography that energize and inspire, teaching at studios locally and abroad for more than a decade. She has an undeniable charisma and approachable style that has attracted all ages and skill levels to her classes.

Nika transferred her in-person dance classes outdoors and to ZOOM when the pandemic hit and has created an ever-growing community of people both in person and online who believe movement is medicine. She realized we would all need a space to dance in once the world emerged from the pandemic, and thus, created NK STUDIOS.

Nika is dedicated to community and inclusivity. Noticing a disparity in the demographics of her dance classes, Nika founded the NK Choreo Dance Scholarship Fund in 2019 with a goal of providing 10 full-ride dance scholarships to students from historically underserved groups. Thanks to a generous community driven by the ideals of equality and justice, the goal was met in less than 2 weeks. She believes this is a testament to the power of community coming together to support each other. This fund continues to grow and provide financial support for dancers who need it.

DANCE FITNESS WITH NIKA (DFN)

Dance Fitness with Nika (known to aficionados as “DFN”) is an empowering follow along dance cardio class that tones, sculpts, and inspires. All dance and fitness levels are welcome as Nika creates an environment of permission where there are truly no wrong moves. As long as you’re moving your body, you’re doing it right! NK CHOREO

NK Choreo describes the hip hop & jazz choreography Nika creates for her dance education & performance based classes. Students often note Nika’s ability to somehow make routines feel both accessible for those who are new, and challenging for those who want more. TEAM & PERFORMANCES

TEAM is a performance based invite-only troupe for Nika’s advanced youth dancers focusing on Jazz Funk & Hip Hop choreography, stage presence, and dancing as a unified group. To book TEAM to perform at your event, please use the contact form at the bottom of this page & give as much information as possible regarding time, location, and any special musical or choreography requests. Cost to book will vary on the aforementioned factors.

Community Engagement

In the thick of the pandemic, Nika pivoted to open her own studio in Bingen, Washington. With her free time, she created a Kickstarter Campaign to help raise money to turn an auto-body shop into a dance studio & creative space for her community. In just 24 HOURS, Nika was able to reach her fundraising goal of $20,000. Only ONE MONTH LATER she reached and surpassed her second goal of $30,000. The love Nika cultivates in this community is apparent by the immediate support of the NK STUDIOS Kickstarter Campaign which lives forever HERE.

Nika love sharing what she has learned over the years with others & offers complimentary 15 minute consults regarding crowd funding your business, social media techniques, building, operating, and growing a small business, instructing dance, creating online classes, and more. Anything beyond this time frame is billed at $250 an hour. Nika recommends that clients come prepared with specific questions to get the most out of their time.

Modeling

Nika has experience working with both local & national brands as a model & influencer including Adidas, Nike, Yamaha, Tavo Pets, Sensi Swim, Pistil Hats, Pure Leaf Tea, and more. If you would like to hire her for a shoot her rate starts at $250/hour and varies depending on the final usage of the photos, length of the contract, and other terms of the shoot.
